Professor Coelho was born on Oahu. Learned jujitsu from Professor Libert O’Sullivan. Moved to California and learned from Professor Sig Kufferath.

Is recognized as a judan by the Hawaii Martial Arts Society; Kudan by the Chow-Hoon Goshin Jitsu System; Shichidan by the Kilohana Martial Arts Assocation.
