Professor Harold Akira Horiuchi

Professor Horiuchi was born on Oahu in 1933. At the age of 11 he started studying jujitsu at Professor Okazaki’s dojo. He earned his shodan in 1953 from the Kodenkan, where he served as an instructor until 1957.

In the 1960s, Professor Horiuchi lived in California and taught judo and jujitsu at Compton College and in Huntington Beach. He returned to Oahu in the 1970s and started the Horiuchi Kodenkan, where he still teaches classes.

Recognized as a judan (10th degree) by the American Jujitsu Institute.
